GHRH HUMAN RIGHTS LITIGATION WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME

The GHRH Human Rights Litigation Work Exerience Programme will take place from 3 to 7 August 2026, with sessions held every day from 10:00 to 12:00 (BST). The programme is delivered entirely online to enable participants from all over the world to attend.

Each session will run for 90 minutes, consisting of a 45-minute lecture from an expert speaker who is a leader in girls human rights, followed by a 20-minute interactive exercise to apply what you’ve learned, and a 25-minute group discussion to share ideas, ask questions, and build your advocacy skills.

To be eligible for a Certificate of Completion, participants are required to attend at least 4 out of the 5 sessions.

All registered participants will receive unique Zoom links by email. Please check your inbox before each session, as only pre-approved participants will be able to access the sessions.

The GHRH Human Rights Litigation Work Experience Programme is a five-day online programme designed to equip participants with practical skills in legal advocacy, strategic litigation, and accountability mechanisms. Participants will explore court challenges, judicial review, UN complaints, and regional litigation strategies through expert-led talks, hands-on exercises, and interactive discussions.

This programme is ideal for students, young professionals, and advocates interested in law, human rights, and international accountability. Participants gain experience in legal drafting, litigation strategy, and judicial processes, while producing portfolio outputs that demonstrate their applied skills in human rights litigation.

Programme Overview:

  • Format: Each session is 1 hour talk + 30 min assignment + 30 min reflection, delivered online to enable participants from all over the world to attend.

The GHRH Global Human Rights Practice programme is open to: Students, young professionals, and advocates aged 16–24, and individuals interested in human rights law, legal advocacy, and strategic litigation. No prior professional experience is required—only a strong interest in human rights litigation and advancing girls human rights.

Programme Expectations

1. Engagement: Active participation is encouraged, with respect for differing viewpoints.
2. Attendance: Participants should strive to attend all sessions to maximize the learning experience.
3. Commitment: Participants are encouraged to dedicate approximately 2 hours per session (including preparation and attendance).

Participants in the programme will gain hands-on experience in human rights litigation, learning directly from expert barristers, litigation specialists, and UN legal advisors. They will develop critical legal skills, including issue spotting, drafting legal arguments, and designing strategic litigation plans, while producing portfolio outputs that showcase their practical expertise. Beyond skills, participants will build a global network of peers and mentors, enhance their understanding of national, regional, and international accountability mechanisms, and strengthen their capacity to advocate effectively for girls’ rights and human rights more broadly.

  • Non-members: £75 to participate in the programme.
