The Girls Human Rights Hub (GHRH) focuses on building skills in advocacy/activism, leadership, and litigation (including policy) to empower individuals to champion girls’ rights. This February, take independent action to address the 12 focus areas of GHRH and make #GHRHGirlsHumanRightsMonth a platform for transformative change.

Follow the five steps

Select one area, such as Menstrual Equity or Safety in Public Spaces, and independently organise events or campaigns in your school, workplace, or community.
Create and Share Content: Design posters, videos, or written pieces to highlight areas like Child Marriages or Domestic Violence and share them on social media using #GHRHGirlsHumanRightsMonth
Host a Panel Discussion: Organise a panel discussion with local experts, activists, or even peers to discuss one or more of the 12 focus areas. For example:
Invite guest speakers to talk about End Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence, or Online Safety.
Students can take the lead in planning the panel, inviting speakers, and moderating.
Ensure to engage your audience with a Q&A session to discuss ways they can take action.
Engage Peers and Family: Start conversations in your personal network to educate others on critical issues, such as Online Safety or Sports Equality.

Champion an Initiative: Lead a project addressing a focus area. For example:
Organize a drive to collect books and resources for girls to support the Right to Education.
Develop and host a workshop on navigating Online Safety.
Empower Other Girls: Encourage and mentor girls to take on leadership roles in addressing issues like Safety in Public Spaces or Climate Justice.
Celebrate and Share Success: Recognize and highlight the efforts of girls tackling areas like Sports Equality or Trafficking & Modern Slavery to inspire others.

Draft Policy Ideas: Identify gaps in your community related to one of the 12 focus areas, such as Public Safety or Sexual Violence in Conflict, and propose actionable solutions.
Petition for Change: Start petitions or gather support for better laws and protections for areas like FGM, Trafficking, or Child Marriages.
Speak Up Locally: Write letters or opinion pieces advocating for stronger protections and support systems in your area for issues like Menstrual Equity or Education Rights.

Create and Share Stories: Highlight individual stories of girls affected by issues like Sexual Violence or Education Barriers and share them to raise awareness.
